Challenges

Killingsworth experienced annual growth of 50% in their business. Their market increased from Charlotte to all of North Carolina. Staffing requirements increased at the same rate. In order to handle the growth, they would need a 5 year technology plan to accommodate the increased internal communications, external communications, and a required paperwork process.

Solution

Killingsworth was an early adapter of GPS. This solution provided by Nexcom, brought employee accountability, increased customer service and lowered costs (fuel, maintenance and payroll). Additionally, GPS gave the staff the ability to resolve customer disputes regarding arrival times and departures times.

In 2004, Nexcom negotiated preferred air time and handset pricing with Sprint. This allowed Killingsworth to outfit all supervisors with Blackberries and place Nextel handsets in the hands of every field and internal support staff members for instant problem resolution.

Killingsworth further outfitted supervisors and sales associated with Dell Laptops from Nexcom Technologies, vehicle mounted mobile desks in their vehicles and Sprint 4G air cards. For Killingsworth, an investment in technology planning and infrastructure is producing retuned in cost savings, process efficiencies and customer satisfaction.
